Removal |

1. |
Shut off the high voltage circuit. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - “High Voltage Shut off Procedure”) |
2. |
Remove the engine room under cover. (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Room Under Cover") |
3. |
Drain the coolant. (Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant") |
4. |
Remove the drive belt. (Refer to Drive Belt System - "Drive belt") |
5. |
Separate the water pump pulley (A).

6. |
Remove the water pump (A) with water pump pulley.
|
7. |
Remove the water pump gasket (A).
|
8. |
Install in the reverse order of removal.
|
9. |
Fill the engine coolant. (Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant") |
10. |
Start the engine and check for leaks. |
11. |
Recheck the coolant level. |
Water Pump Cover
1. |
Remove the engine room under cover. (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Room Under Cover") |
2. |
Drain the coolant. (Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant") |
3. |
Disconnect the coolant hose (A).
|
4. |
Remove the thermostat. (Refer to Cooling System - "Thermostat") |
5. |
Remove the heater pipe. (Refer to Cooling System - "Water Temperature Control Assembly") |
6. |
Remove the water pump. |
7. |
Remove the water pump cover (A).
|
8. |
Install in the reverse order of removal. |
9. |
Fill the engine coolant. (Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant") |
10. |
Start the engine and check for leaks. |
Inspection |
1. |
Check each part for cracks, damage or wear, and replace the coolant pump assembly if necessary. |
2. |
Check the bearing for damage, abnormal noise and sluggish rotation, and replace the coolant pump assembly if necessary. |
3. |
Check for coolant leakage. If coolant leaks from hole, the seal is defective. Replace the coolant pump assembly.
