Removal and Installation

Water Temperature Assembly

  

Be sure to read and follow the “General Safety Information and Caution” before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.

Be sure to shut off the high voltage circuit according to the “High Voltage Shut-off Procedures” before doing any work related with the high voltage system to avoid serious electrical injuries.

1.

Shut off the high voltage circuit.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - “High Voltage Shut off Procedure”)

2.

Remove the engine room under cover.

(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Room Under Cover")

3.

Drain the coolant.

(Refer to Cooling System - Coolant")

4.

Remove the air cleaner assembly.

(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "Air Cleaner")

5.

Disconnect the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV) hose (A).

6.

Disconnect the wiring connectors and harness clamps and remove the connector brackets around the water temperature assembly.

7.

Remove the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV) bracket (A).

8.

Disconnect the radiator upper hose (A).

9.

Remove the EGR cooler pipe C (A).

Tightening torque :

18.6 - 23.5 N·m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf·m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb·ft)

10.

Disconnect the oil cooler coolant hose (A) and ATF cooler coolant hose (B).

11.

Disconnect the EGR cooler coolant hose (A).

12.

Remove the EGR cooler pipe B (A).

Tightening torque :

18.6 - 23.5 N·m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf·m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb·ft)

13.

Remove the electric control EGR valve from the water temperature assembly.

(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "Electric EGR Control Valve")

14.

Remove the water temperature control assembly (A).

Tightening torque

:9.8 - 11.8 N·m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf·m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb·ft)

15.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

  

Install a new O-ring.

Clean surface on the O-ring and install the O-ring after wetting with water.

Heater Pipe

Shut off the high voltage circuit.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - “High Voltage Shut off Procedure”)

2.

Remove the engine room under cover.

(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Room Under Cover")

3.

Drain the coolant.

(Refer to Cooling System - Coolant")

4.

Remove the air cleaner assembly.

(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "Air Cleaner")

5.

Remove the water temperature control assembly.

6.

Remove the intake manifold.

(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "Intake Manifold")

7.

Remove the EGR cooler pipe C (A) and then disconnect the exhaust heat recovery system (EHRS) coolant hose (B).

Tightening torque :

18.6 - 23.5 N·m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf·m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb·ft)

  

Install the exhaust heat recovery system (EHRS) coolant hose as shown illustrations.

8.

Disconnect the coolant hose (A).

9.

Disconnect the oil cooler coolant hose (A).

10.

Remove the heater pipe (A).

Tightening torque :

18.6 - 23.5 N·m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf·m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb·ft)

  

when installing the heater pipe to water pump, apply coolant on the heater pipe O-ring.

11.

Install in the reverse order of removal.
