Kia Niro: AHB(Active Hydraulic Boost) System / Brake Actuation Unit Repair procedures

Removal
1.

Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

2.

Disconnect the TCM connector.

(Refer to DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) System - "DCT Control Module (TCM))

3.

Disconnect the ECM connector.

4.

Remove the air cleaner assembly.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Air Cleaner")

5.

Remove the brake fluid from the reservoir .

  

Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle, it may damage the paint; if brake fluid does contact the paint, wash it off immediately with water.

6.

Remove the nuts, hose, brake fluid level sensor connector (A).

Tightening torque:

6.8 - 10.7 N·m (0.7 - 1.1 kgf·m, 5.0 - 7.9 lb·ft)

7.

Disconnect the integrated brake actuation unit (IBAU) connector and brake tube.

  

The following section describes how to diagnose faults using a diagnostic instrument.

1)

Connect the diagnostic instrument to the self-diagnostic connector (16-pin) beneath the crash pad on the side of driver's seat, and then turn on the ignition to activate the diagnostic instrument

2)

In the GDS Vehicle Type Selection menu, select "Vehicle Type" and "Brake/VDC/AHB" System.

3)

Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

8.

Loosen the flare nuts (A) from the integrated brake actuation unit (IBAU) and then remove the brake tube.

Tightening torque:

12.7 - 16.7 N·m (1.3 - 1.7 kgf·m, 9.4 - 12.3 lb·ft)

9.

Remove the snap pin (A) and clebis pin (B).

10.

Loosen the brake pedal nuts.

Tightening torque :

16.7 - 25.5 N·m (1.7 - 2.6 kgf·m, 12.3 - 18.8 lb·ft)

Installation
1.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

2.

Check the brake pedal operation.

3.

After filling the brake fluid in the reservoir, perform the air bleed.

(Refer to the Brake system - "Brake Bleeding Procedure")

4.

Conduct the variant coding.

5.

Conduct the pedal traval sensor (PTS) calibration.

6.

Conduct the longitidinal G sensor clibration. (HAC/DBC Only)

7.

Conduct the pressure sensor calibration.

8.

Conduct the auto detected configuration reset the if necessary.

Diagnosis by using diagnostic device

The following section describes how to diagnose faults using a diagnostic instrument.

Connect the diagnostic instrument to the self-diagnostic connector (16-pin) beneath the crash pad on the side of driver's seat, and then turn on the ignition to activate the diagnostic instrument.

2.
